Learning and Community Engagement Intern Opportunity

We are currently looking to recruit a Learning and Community Engagement Intern for Salisbury Museum.

This is an exciting time to work at Salisbury Museum. The museum fully re-opened in July 2024 following a £5.1 million redevelopment primarily supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We have restored our grade I listed building and created new galleries about Salisbury’s history, ceramics and natural history. Our ambition is for us to become a key player in the city’s cultural offer, delivering major cultural and economic impact to Salisbury and the surrounding region.

This internship offers invaluable experience of working in a museum, gaining an understanding of current best practice in heritage learning and community engagement, with real practical experience. The successful candidate will be mentored by our Project Learning Officer, who will help with training as well as creative and wider skills development and support.

The Learning and Community Engagement Intern will assist the Project Learning Officer in the development and delivery of both formal and informal learning programmes with diverse groups in both traditional and non-traditional learning settings. This includes both onsite and outreach sessions and projects in both schools and wider city venues.

The internship gives the opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual to gain experience of working on heritage and community learning projects, be part of a small dedicated team and begin to develop a network of professional contacts and implement their learning in a practical environment.
