Museum Meets Quality Standard

Salisbury Museum is delighted to announce that we are now accredited as a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction by VisitEngland. The museum’s advertising, customer service, presentation, cleanliness, catering facilities and retail offer were all assessed by a mystery shopper from VisitEngland in November. The museum achieved an overall percentage score of 76%, all scored areas were good or very good with a few areas that achieved excellence.
The report from VisitEngland said the museum has ‘a strong visitor offer’, highlighting in particular that:
The appearance of the building and grounds is excellent and first impressions are very good.
The World War I temporary exhibition is excellent as is the new centrepiece Wessex Gallery which is stunning.
The Salisbury Museum Illustrated guidebook is excellent and the retail experience in the shop is very good.
There were a few areas identified for improvement – if these are addressed over the next couple of years then the museum can look forward to being nominated for a number of VisitEngland accolades after the next assessment in 2016.
