Museum update

We wanted to update you on the museum’s current position in the midst of the coronavirus epidemic.

Following the advice of government, we took the decision to close the museum for the immediate future on 17 March. The health of our visitors, staff, volunteers and members is, and will remain, of the utmost importance to us.

Despite the current restrictions we are very keen to stay in touch. The next edition of our newsletter to members is on hold until we re-open, but our social media channels will remain a place for us all to connect and where hopefully, we can help to keep you inspired and informed. Find us on Facebook Twitter and Instagram. You can also subscribe to our free monthly e-newsletter via our website. Of course, if you would prefer to write to us please do, but you’ll understand it may take longer than usual for us to reply.

The current situation puts an enormous strain on all our finances. We will need your support more than ever, to ensure we can offer the same incredible programme of exhibitions, events and activities when we reopen. Membership is one of the only sources of regular income we have through this challenging time.

There are a number of ways you can help:

  • Become a member of the museum
  • If you are already a museum member, renew your membership
  • Use Amazon Smile for online purchases. When you shop on, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) to us if you nominate the museum as your chosen charity
  • Make a donation. You can do this through JustGiving

Your continued support in these difficult times, is so very much appreciated. The museum team and trustees look forward to welcoming you back to museum when the current crisis passes.

Please take care.

Best wishes from The Salisbury Museum team
