Our four partner museums have explored their collections and found objects that tell the untold stories of our region's women and their past - from the unexpected to the ground-breaking and intriguing.
The first of these objects to go on show at Salisbury Museum is the Downton Lace Pillow from our own collection. Wessex women played a large part in local trade, particularly in the Downton Lace industry.
From 26 October 2019 until 5 January you can also see:
Granny Cousins' Lantern and Bonnet at Poole Museum
Iron Age Pots at Wiltshire Museum
Carved Stone Sculptures at Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum (Dorset Museum is currently closed, so the Wessex Women objects are being displayed at Shire Hall
Visit the museums to uncover the fascinating stories that lie behind the objects. The objects will be displayed at each museum in turn until October 2020.
