Wicked Wessex Objects on Tour

Wicked Wessex Objects on Tour Courtesy of Poole Museum

Saturday, January 19, 2019 to Saturday, April 6, 2019

Booking: No booking required.
Cost: Normal admission charges apply.

Our four partner museums have chosen objects that tell stories of the region’s ‘wicked’ past – from grim and gruesome to strange and shocking! The objects will be displayed at each site in turn until October 2019.

For this part of the tour programme, the museum will be showing the Cat o'Nine Tails from Poole Museum. This object was used as a punishment to beat sailors and reflects just how miserable maritime life in Wessex could be during the 1700's and 1800's.

Watch out for other Wicked Wessex objects at Dorset County MuseumPoole Museum and Wiltshire Museum when you visit.
