Our four partner museums have chosen objects that tell stories of the region’s ‘wicked’ past – from grim and gruesome to strange and shocking! The objects will be displayed at each site in turn until October 2019.
For this part of the tour programme, the museum will be showing a maquette for the Martyrs by Elisabeth Frink. The maquette is a miniature version of the haunting martyrs' memorial that stands in Dorchester on the site where the town gallows were located. Many hundreds of people were killed on Dorchester's gallows during the 1500's and 1600's.
Watch out for other Wicked Wessex objects at Dorset County Museum, Poole Museum and Wiltshire Museum when you visit.
