Jane Sheppard: Ancestors

Saturday, July 11, 2026

to Sunday, September 20, 2026

Jane’s work draws on artefacts from our distant global ancestry to explore the heart of the human experience. She is interested in how objects gain potency and meaning, and how this adds depth to our sense of purpose and direction.

The works presented here are informed by the neolithic landscape of Wiltshire whilst referencing other cultures. Coming originally from the fens of East Anglia, Jane grew up with a deep sense of the migratory nature of humanity. This informs her work which looks for a place of human connection. Each ceramic piece is worked with the ancient skill of coiling, created to bring a place of pause and reflection in a fast world.
