The Team

Museum Staff

There is a small but friendly staff supported by volunteers largely drawn from the 2,200 strong museum membership.

Adrian Green Director

Adrian Green has overall responsibility for all aspects of the Museum, which encompasses managing the collections, building, displays, temporary exhibitions and staff. Adrian’s main priorities at the moment are increasing visitor numbers, widening access to the collections and redeveloping the Museum building.

Lucy Bridal Chief Operating Officer

Lucy deputises for the Director in his absence, and manages commercial operations, which are vital to the museum’s sustainability. She helps oversee the management of the buildings and supports lots of other initiatives, training, events and activities across the museum to ensure we deliver outstanding visitor experiences.

Lucy Williams Collections Manager

Responsible for looking after the extensive collections of the museum, acquiring objects, managing loans and answering collection enquiries from the public.

Kate Douglas Volunteer Coordinator

Kate oversees the induction of new volunteers and helps individuals to decide which role is best for them. She co-ordinates the training programme for volunteers and provides on-going support during their time with us, which includes organising social events to say thank you for all the time that they give to the museum.

Anne Heather Finance Officer

The financial affairs of the museum are carefully managed by Anne. She keeps a close eye on the budgets to make savings and ensures that all things financial run smoothly.

Sophie Hawke Finds Liaison Officer

Sophie is the Finds Liaison Officer for Wiltshire, working for the British Museum’s Portable Antiquities Scheme. She identifies and facilitates the recording of archaeological artefacts found by members of the public, thus advancing our knowledge of local history and archaeology.

Owain Hughes Learning and Outreach Officer

Learning Officer devising, designing and delivering the formal and informal learning programme for the museum

Alice Maddicott Project Learning Officer

Learning Officer with responsibility for delivering the Activity Plan for the Past Forward project up until 2026. This includes the learning offer for the new galleries from Early Years up to Key Stage 5, with a special focus on local history, as well as many creative youth and community projects.

Valerie Overton Housekeeper

The sparkling display cases and pristine floors you see in the King’s House are thanks to our housekeeper. On a practical level, Val keeps the historic museum building in good order, carrying out a huge number of tasks from dealing with contractors and changing light bulbs to sorting out overflowing gutters! Most importantly, she is our lead on keeping the whole building clean and safe for staff and visitors alike.

Jenny Mearns Marketing and Membership Officer

Jenny is responsible for marketing, online and social media communications. She also manages the museum’s 2,200-strong membership. She is the first point of contact for members, patrons and corporate members, and is responsible for all welcome and renewal communications and the processing of subscription payments and donations.

Bridget Telfer Community Curator

Bridget is the Community Curator and works with the local community to build relationships and encourage people to engage with the museum and get involved in our activities.

Elizabeth Turner Documentation Assistant

Liz supports the Collections Manager and the Project Curator on the collections work needed for the Past Forward project, taking objects off display, checking their condition, removing them to storage and documenting the process.

Reception Team

You can guarantee you’ll be greeted with a smile by our enthusiastic front of house team: Caroline Cameron, Rob Hames, Jon Hampton, Margaret Kirby, Chris Marshall, Rebecca Pearce, Kara Falcke and Kay Shepcar. Whether you have a general enquiry, need directions to your favourite museum objects, or want to make a purchase in our shop, our reception team are here to help.
