Lime Green Bodice

1890s

Bodice cut in a jacket style with tabs at the waistline, the front tabs are weighted with sewn-in fabric weights to enable the garment to sit flat when worn. Made from lime green silk taffeta, overlaid with machine embroidered black net with floral motifs. Inner woven label reads ‘Mrs James, 2 Hanover Square, London’. There is a small pocket on inside front tab – possibly for pocket-watch.
