Pencil and Indian ink wash, heightened with gold on paper

Curtain design for Love for Love, a play by William Congreve performed at the Phoenix Theatre, London, April 1943. This design shows a silhouette of two figures springing to greet each other encouraged by cupid. Behind then in pencil is a view of classical buildings under a cartouche: 'Love for Love by Mr Congreve'. The design was never used.
