Model of Pentre Ifan Cromlech, Pembrokeshire

19th century

This model was made for General Pitt-Rivers for his museum at Farnham, Dorset. In his role as Inspector of Ancient Monuments he visited many archaeological sites across the country, some of which were surveyed and turned into models for his museum. They were produced by craftsmen who worked on his estate at Rushmore.
