Purple Silk Dress

1913

The ownership of this dress is shrouded in mystery but it is likely to have been made and worn by a Russian princess. Princess Obolensky fled the Russian revolution and spent time in France where she developed her seamstress skills. There are small mistakes including ink marks on the silk where she changed her mind about the placement of the embroidery.
