Scout Motor Car

This car was made by Scout Motors in Salisbury in 1912 - at the Scout Works, a purpose-built factory on the current Churchfields Estate. Little is known of its early history. In 1952 it was rescued from a scrapyard in Honiton, Devon and bought by a Mr George Bond of Yeovil, who restored and rallied it. It then fell into disuse again until it was bought in 1984 by a Salisbury based owner who fully restored it for a second time.

Salisbury Museum purchased the Scout car in 2012 with private donations and grants from Salisbury City Council and Wiltshire Council.

Scout remain the only make of car to be manufactured in Salisbury. Although hundreds of cars were made there is only one other Scout car known to still be in existence.
