The Sleeping Princess programme

1939

By Rex Whistler

Printed on card

An elaborate programme in the shape of a baroque cartouche. This was produced for the Royal Command Performance of the The Sleeping Princess ballet in honour of the French President, at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, March 22, 1939. The border is embossed with palms and gallic trophies, with the crown 'G.R.' in gold at the top. In the centre the design combines the arms of both nations.
