The Salisbury Museum is seeking new trustees who have strong links to Salisbury and the south Wiltshire area and a love for culture and heritage. As a trustee, you will play an important part in ensuring that The Salisbury Museum fulfils its mission: to welcome, entertain and inspire our audiences. The Museum does this by telling the story of Salisbury and the surrounding area – a unique landscape, which has been the cradle of unparalleled human achievement for over half a million years. As well as being a charity, the museum is a commercial enterprise. Therefore, an understanding of current commercial challenges is important. Our trustees work to ensure that a sustainable, successful museum will be handed on to future generations.
Now is an exciting time for the museum. We have recently opened our new galleries dedicated to Salisbury’s history, ceramics, and natural history – all as part of the £5.2million Past Forward project to conserve our grade I listed building and create an engagement programme that reaches out to the local community. The project has been funded with a substantial grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
