Maerefolk, Charles Allison & Paul Butler: An Evening of Folk Music and Storytelling

Thursday, March 26, 2026

Join us for an evening of music from Maerefolk and Charles Allison with storytelling by Paul Butler.
In association with Salisbury Folk Club.

Maerefolk is a four-piece band from Salisbury comprising vocal harmonies, guitar, fiddle and bass, playing a range of traditional and modern folk songs and tunes. They are the founders and resident band at the successful Salisbury Folk Club which started in 2025.

Paul Butler has been telling traditional stories for over twenty years; tales from the Arabian Nights, and stories rooted in the British Isles. He will be bringing to life two of the stories from the exhibition’s interactive map.

Charles Allison is a musician and songwriter from the South of England. After studying music at the Birmingham Conservatoire, he developed a passion for folk music and dance, which he is now channelling into his song-writing and performance. Expect traditional and original songs with melodeon or fingerstyle guitar accompaniment.

The Un/Common People exhibition will be open from 6:30pm for guests to view ahead of the performances starting at 7:30pm. There will be a drinks interval at 8:20pm with a glass of wine included in the ticket.
